Case Study 3: Engineering Company - No in-house HR department

1st October Consulting Limited was appointed by the Chairman and the Commercial Director as their organisation had no HR department in place. In the face of increasing employment legislation and plans to embark on a sustained period of growth in staff numbers they had realised their need for structured processes, policies and procedures and for HR expertise.

1st October Consulting Limited assisted the Company in devising a 3-year HR strategy, scoping out the role of the HR department and measures for its success as well as recruiting the necessary people to resource the department.

1st October Consulting is now working with the company to introduce a range of improved terms and conditions of employment, a user-friendly employee handbook and a modular management development programme for team leaders and middle management.
